Full-Proof Remedy For Stretch Marks
Stretchmarks from pregnancy (striae gravidarum) occur when the skin stretches rapidly to accommodate a woman’s growing body. It may not be possible to prevent all stretchmarks from appearing; some women are more prone to developing stretch marks than others. You can try keeping your skin moisturized with lotions or petroleum jelly.
- Once stretchmarks have formed, many women seek to reduce stretch scars from pregnancy. Try these full-proof remedies:
- During your daily shower, vigorously exfoliate your skin with a body scrub. You can add baby oil to the body scrub for its skin softening properties.
- Instead of body scrub, mix finely ground coffee with vitamin E, olive oil, or cocoa butter cream. Massage the mixture thoroughly into your skin, taking care to cover each mark. Wait five minutes before rinsing and follow up with aloe vera gel.
- Use an exfoliating mitt or brush in the shower. Rub mink oil on your stretch marks twice per day, and take vitamins daily, including 1000mg of vitamin C (which is a powerful antioxidant).
- Massage your stomach as often as possible with cream or lotion. The brand is unimportant; it is the increased circulation to the area which helps the scars to heal.
Essentially the preceding tips rely on a combination of exfoliation, massage, and moisturizing to combat existing stretch marks from pregnancy. The exfoliation refines the surface appearance of your skin. The massage increases blood flow to the affected areas. The moisturizing helps to plump up the depressed area within the stretchmark (the “tear” or “scar”).
One very important thing to remember is that it is far better to prevent stretch marks in the first place, than to try to remove them after they have appeared.
